Where we go ...

The vast wilderness areas of the world are waiting to be explored and enjoyed by intrepid vessels willing to venture off the beaten track. Some of these destinations are surprisingly close to civilisation, only requiring a short deviation from normal cruising routes. EYOS will ensure you are well prepared, providing a realistic description of what your voyage involves. Some things will be easy, some may be hard, but nothing is impossible. There is virtually no region where EYOS will not be able to assist your vessel and the possibilities are endless.

The Arctic

Polar bears in the arcticOnly a few days sail north from North America or Europe, your vessel can be cruising through the Arctic pack ice searching for polar bears, whales and walrus. The long days of the brief Arctic summer are a time of intense wildlife activity, as these normally-frozen islands come alive with birds, flowers and animals at a few key locations. Meet the Inuit people of Arctic Canada and Greenland, cruise fjords choked with icebergs, bathe in geothermal springs, and watch white whales under the midnight sun. Not as cold in summer as you might expect, these islands have a rugged beauty hard to beat and offer wildlife encounters that will amaze.

North Atlantic & North Pacific

North AtlanticIncredibly close to civilisation it is possible to find wild, uninhabited islands teeming with wildlife and offering the tranquillity of wilderness. These weather-beaten coastlines of Northern Europe, America and the Russian Far-East have superb potential for exploration by sea during the summer season. Discover deserted islands, tiny fishing villages, beautiful beaches, volcanoes, cliffs packed with seabirds, caves to explore by tender, seals and whales to watch from your deck. All this is far closer than you might think.

Central America

Canoes on the beachBoth the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Central America offer tropical wilderness as virgin forest meets the sea along beautiful deserted beaches. Explore the forests of Costa Rica & Panama away from the crowds along the vast tracts of coastline only accessible by sea. Use your tenders to cruise inland up mangrove lined rivers, watching wildlife in the forest and reaching isolated villages cut off from the modern world. Offshore islands offer world-class game fishing, diving and stunning anchorages and beaches. Further north, cruise the wild coast of the Baja Peninsula and Gulf of California, which you will discover has much more to offer than Cabo San Lucas, with wild uninhabited islands, golden sand beaches, and sea lions waiting to be played with. The calm waters of the gulf are some of the best in the world for whale-watching, with regular sightings of giant blue and sperm whales, and intimate encounters with grey whales and their calves in the lagoons of the Pacific Coast.

The Indian Ocean

Indian OceanThe most beautiful islands in the world are waiting to be discovered on a voyage across the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Avoid the resorts and busy anchorages, and venture to the remote islands where you can be totally alone and enjoy beaches and reefs most people only dream off. Perhaps the most heavenly islands of all are the Seychelles, where the giant tortoise rules the world heritage site of Aldabra far from the central islands. Discover the unusual flora and fauna of the “eighth continent” of Madagascar, and stroll through the crumbling ruins of colonial settlements in idyllic settings along the coast of East Africa.

The Indo-Pacific

Indo-PacificFrom the Asian coast of the Indian Ocean, through the innumerable islands of Indonesia and South-East Asia, to the vast Pacific, this is perhaps the most exciting region to explore by sea. Home to the greatest marine diversity anywhere on the planet, the diving is the best in the world, the islands some of the most beautiful. See the contrast in landscape, flora, fauna and cultures as your vessel crosses the “Wallace Line” dividing Asia & Australasia. Watch Komodo dragons, visit the isolated tribes of Papua New Guinea, bask in the sun through the friendly islands of the pacific, meet the Pitcairn Islanders, and dive in gin-clear water with hundreds of sharks or on WWII wrecks.

The Antarctic

Antarctic sealPerhaps the most challenging cruising ground for any expedition yacht, if your vessel is up to the task then you have the most incredible experience awaiting you. A couple of days sailing south from Cape Horn is the Antarctic Peninsula, where your vessel finds itself surrounded by snow, ice and penguins. The surprisingly mild temperatures and 24-hour sunlight of the Austral summer are a time when wildlife explodes in a frantic race to breed. Land at penguin colonies, cruise among icebergs with seals and whales, visit scientific research stations and be bowled over by the most incredible scenery on the planet. On your way north or south explore some of the wild islands of the Southern Ocean such as South Georgia or the Falkland Islands. Some vessels may even be able to reach colonies of Emperor Penguins that breed on floating ice, or visit the Ross Sea and the huts built by Scott & Shackleton on their quests to reach the South Pole. If you wish to follow in their footsteps and visit the pole yourself we can even arrange for an aircraft to take you there!
